Live beginning-to-end demonstrations and chalk-talks about SQL Server 2008 and SQL Server 2008 R2 Failover Cluster installation, rolling upgrade and rolling patch with minimal down time on Windows Server 2008 R2. Come experience first-hand all the new features and advantages of SQL Server 2008 Failover Clusters. Live session will include the following scenarios: Environment: - 2 nodes + 1 Domain Controller - Running Windows 2008 R2 EE (x64) Scenarios to be conducted live beginning-to-end: - Overview of best practices and known issues - Slipstreamed SQL Server 2008 RTM+SP1 failover cluster integrated installation and add node operation - Applying SQL Server 2008 SP1 CU through rolling cluster patch process to the installed SQL Server 2008 instance - Rolling in-place upgrade from SQL Server 2005 failover cluster instance to SQL Server 2008 RTM+SP1 using slipstream - Applying SP1 CU to the upgraded instance - Removing SQL Server 2008 failover cluster TBD: SQL Server 2008/R2 failover clustering with DB mirroring.
About the Speaker
Max Verun is a Senior Program Manager within the SQL Server Deployment Platform team of SQL Server product group. He and his team are responsible for the overall setup experience for SQL Server. He led the failover clustering setup features and functionality for SQL Server 2008 release. He is now focusing on the new deployment platform improvements for future SQL Server features and releases.
